The Art Park Presents;

The Offset Creative Project 2013

Offset 2013

Originally an initiative of The Small Print when it begun in early 2009, OFFSET has become one of the world’s most important creative events, each year hosting 24 of the most inspirational speakers in Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. This past weekend (April 5th - 7th), Offset returned with its strongest line up to date, hosting a weekend of presentations, interviews, panel discussions and debates live on stage, with the very best of Irish and International designers, animators, illustrators, advertisers, artists, photographers and more. They spoke about their work, their ideas and inspirations and give insight into their practices and personal perspectives on their own careers over the course of three inspiring days.

Each year OFFSET attracts visitors from across the globe to attend the 3-day conference and last year delegates made their creative pilgrimage from the UK, Europe, USA, Asia and as far as Australia. There are no VIP areas, and no green rooms at OFFSET, the space is a democratic one facilitating both speakers and attendees and allowing both mingling freely and settling in for three days of inspiration. The intimate surroundings of the Second Room allows visitors to get a little closer to some of the legendary speakers, who will give interviews, contribute to debates and take part in group discussions on the topics that are at the heart of the creative agenda.

Some of the amazing people Offset has been honoured to work with: Sir Peter Blake, Massimo Vignelli, Dave McKean, David Shrigley, Tara McPherson, Chip Kidd, The London Police, Harry Pearce, Steve Heller, George Lois, Emily Forgot, House Industries, Experimental Jetset, Atelier/DavidSmith, Oliver Jeffers, Graphic Thought Facility, Anthony Burrill, James Jean, Linda Brownlee, Alan Clarke, Daniel Eatock, David Carson, Gary Baseman, Nate Williams, Lance Wyman, M&E, Mark Farrow, Martin Haake, POKE London, Scott Daidch, Steve ‘ESPO’ Powers, Studio AKA, Tomer Hanuka, Wooster Collective, Zach Gold, David O’Reilly and more besides.

This year the Offset team thought it would be fun to look back at what has gone before. After all, with 95 Main Stage speakers and over 160 hours of presentations already in the bag, there was a lot to look back over.

Asking some of the best creatives in our great city to choose a quote from a previous OFFSET speaker, and create a new piece of work inspired by it, and then share it in some way as a gift to Dublin. They loved the results that were more inventive, clever and inspiring than they expected.
